Navajeevana = New Life
We at Rocky Point have been active with a local organization, Navajeevana, for the last 8 years. For 22 years, they have served the needs and represented the rights of the disabled people in Sri Lanka. They provide rehabilitation, education, empowerment programs, networking, and community awareness.
Navajeevana’s vision is to see people with disabilities as equal participating members of a non-discriminating society.
One example of their accomplishments is the restoration of an entire village after the tsunami. Knowing the integrity and effectiveness of Navajeevana, we invite our guests to get involved and support them as well.
Navajeevana:
Runs schools to teach disabled children to be more functional and enter society as participating members, and teaches their parents how to work with them.
Does outreach into communities to find and rehabilitate the forgotten and unseen disabled
Supplies hearing aids for hearing impaired, and prostheses for people with missing limbs
Offers physical therapy for the injured
Provides mental health services for both the disabled and their families
Gives counseling to build financial independence
Teaches local handicrafts for the disabled to earn a living
